I thought I’d make this post for all you fellow make up lovers out there!
Finding new makeup and skincare bits can be a gruelling and let’s not forget expensive task and it really can be disheartening when you don’t find what you are after – that is where Birchbox Uk comes in. Birchbox Uk is a subscription service created in Brighton that tailors beauty and skincare products to your specific needs and wants. The subscription service runs at £10 a month where at the beginning of the month a box is sent out to you (which is very aesthetic) containing at least 5 products, one of which you have the option to choose.
When you have subscribed to Birchbox you have the opportunity to fill out a beauty profile (which I highly recommend that you do as products sent to you in the boxes will be tailored to what you fill out). In the beauty profile, you fill out details about your complexion, skin tone, hair colour, any concerns you have for your skin or hair eg. Spots, wrinkles, frizz, etc. My personal fav section of the beauty profile is that you can fill out the degree of your beauty style and knowledge, meaning that the products are more tailored to you.
One of the most amazing things about Birchbox is that they have services that tailor for products that are suited more specifically towards male and females…there may well be but I haven’t found another company that does this!
Another fun fact about Birchbox Uk is that if you buy the full-size version of what is in the boxes via the Birchbox website you get 10% off.
You can access the Birchbox Uk website here and start your subscription: https://www.birchbox.co.uk
Now getting into the fun stuff…
I signed up to Birchbox Uk at the end of July and my delivery arrived last week which contained July, June and Augusts boxes, I know, it felt like Christmas had come early.
July’s birch box came as a limited edition Birchbag that was inspired by Brighton beach and was called; Day Tripping. And yes, I have definitely found my new makeup bag for my handbag, it’s adorable!
In my June bag there was;
* MeechNMia; Brow Liner (full size may I happily add) RRP: £12.99*
I never fill in my brows that much, just at the tips to give them a bit of structure and this pencil glides on like a dream, it matches perfectly and looks so natural – without a doubt I will be purchasing this again.
- Bobbi Brown (excitedly screams); Extra Eye Repair Cream RRP: £46*
I’ve been after an under eye brightening cream for some time and settled on a No.7 one (which is exceptionally good) but have always wanted to try this but the high price tag and my small student income didn’t make a good mix but now, with the thanks to Birchbox, I can try it out!
- This Works; Perfect Legs Skin Miracle RRP: £37
The product claims to even out skin tone and leaves a sun-kissed tint – this isn’t something I have used yet due to it being summer but have heard amazing things about it and This Works being a brilliant brand I have high hopes.
- Scrub Love; Coffee Body Scrub – mango and coconut RRP: £11.95*
Mango is my fav thing in the world so I automatically fell in love – the smell is amazing and let’s hope it works as well as it smells
- Arrow; Enhance Waterproof Eyeliner – Bright Now RRP: £12*
This was a Birchbox exclusive product. I have used this a couple times and it works surprisingly well by brightening eyes and accentuating eye colour, I’m not sure if I’d repurchase this but it was fun to try out.
July’s box came with the ‘Summer Daze’ theme in a very cute palm tree print box. July’s box was super exciting as it came with an additional sixth goodie rather than the standard 5.
In my July box there was:
- Benefit; Lip & Cheek Stain – Gogotint RRP: £25.50*
In this months box, this product was the one you got to pick out of the two shades, Chachatint or Gogotint – I went for Gogotint which is more of a rosy pink as opposed to Chachatint which is more of an orange/red.
- Balance Me; Flash Cleanse Micellar Water RRP: £16*
A very generous sample size that removes grime and makeup very well, I have used this a couple times after taking my make up off and it leaves your skin feeling refreshed and clean.
- Percy & Reed; Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery RRP: £20*
After years of straightening abuse with no protectant spray when I was younger, my hair is not in the condition that I would like, fingers crossed this works as well as it says.
- Rituals; Hammam Delight Foaming Shower Gel RRP: £8*
I haven’t used this yet but the idea of a foaming shower gel (something that I have never heard of) excites me quite a lot.
- POP Beauty; Bright Up Your Life Eyeshadow Trio – Champagne Mocha RRP: £15.50
POP beauty is not a brand that I have ever heard of before but after receiving this palette with the amazing pigmentation and super wearable nude – brown shades I shall definitely be purchasing more from the brand.
- English Laundry Eau De Parfum RRP: £46*
This is another Birchbox exclusive product.
I’m picky with perfumes but this one I really liked, the floral yet fruity fresh scent smells divine and is the perfect size to slip into your purse on a night out!
August’s box came with the ‘Mermaid Vibes’ theme with an aesthetic blue and green scaled box. Augusts box came with a full size, yes you read correctly, full-sized Spectrum make up brush, either from the Glam Clam or Bomb Shell range – you get to choose!
In my August box there was the following:
- Spectrum Collections A05 brush – Glam Clam
Everyone knows how breathtaking the Spectrum make up brushes are – the unique thing about this is that the Glam Clam and Bomb Shell brushes can only be bought as part of a set and are not available to buy individually which is a nice little exclusivity to Birchbox customers.
- LOC; Shadow Stick; Rock Steady RRP: £8*
This was a Birchbox exclusive full sized product that applies easily and blends equally as well, is nice for a subtle daytime look or can be built up for a more dramatic smokey eye look.
- Number 4, Sugar Texturising Spray RRP: £20*
I have naturally wavy hair so a texturising spray is never something that I have ever reached or felt the need to use but now I have one I will definitely be giving it a go to see what it does on my hair!
- NUXE, Huile Prodigieuse RRP: from £20*
This nourishing multi-use oil can be used to give a highlight to wherever you fancy, I tried this out as a highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones and it is AMAZING – it gives such a nice golden glow that is perfect for summer months.
- Whish; Renewing Mud Mask RRP: £29
Leaving your pores feeling fresh and your skin free of impurities this mask is definitely one I will be purchasing again.
*RRP’s in correspondence to full-size items*
